High Performance General Purpose Cyanoacrylates

How to select

There are 4 main things to consider:

  1. Viscosity
  2. Speed
  3. What is to be bonded (substrate)
  4. Service conditions / Environment

Chemence General Purpose cyanoacrylates exist in a wide range of viscosities, from wicking grades (5Cps, like water), to gel. The viscosity chosen will depend on many factors including surface smoothness, fit between parts, gap filling and application method.

Speed of bonding should be chosen to suit the process. For automatic assembly and high speed processes, a fast bonding time will reduce inventory and the need for fixturing. For manual operations a slightly longer positioning time might be desirable.

Common substrates such as plastics, rubber, ceramics and most metals can be bonded with CE grades. Other substrates (paper, leather, wood) need CS, CF or CX grades to achieve a satisfactory fixture time. Polyethylene, Polypropylene and PTFE will need Chemence LA77 primer. CP and CM grades are optimised for Plastics & Rubber and Metals respectively. See our Specialised Products page.

The service conditions / environment need to be considered. If the service temperature is higher than 80oC, CH grades should be considered. For extra peel strength and impact resistance, choose CT products. See our Specialised Products page.

Extra low viscosity formulation. Designed to penetrate between pre assembled components. Exhibits very fast curing.

Multi purpose. Fast curing on rubber, plastics and many other materials

Medium viscosity grade for general purpose bonding.

Moderate gap filling capabilities. For applications where migration of the product from the bonding area is undesirable.

High viscosity formula. For bonding porous materials or applications where some gap filling is required.

Suitable for vertical applications. Extra high visosity. For bonding porous materials or applications where some gap filling is required.
